Wildwood (LAIKA Studios) — Lighting Camera
Crafting the cinematography for a LAIKA film is a profound exercise in patience, intuition, and world-building. Working as a Lighting Camera operator on Wildwood, my role transcended traditional camera operation; it was about sculpting the very atmosphere of Wildwood using light and shadow to breathe life, history, and emotional gravity into a physical, miniature reality.
In stop-motion, light is not merely a tool for exposure—it is a narrative force. Every frame demands a deliberate, painstaking orchestration of texture, depth, and color to evoke a sense of vast, untamed scale. Collaborating at the intersection of physical craftsmanship and cinematic grandeur, we pushed the boundaries of miniature storytelling to give this dark fantasy its rich, tactile, and immersive visual soul. See the culmination of this collective vision in the official trailer below.
